The designer: boards, components & the canvas
Working on the canvas: panning and zooming, drawing and reshaping boards, placing real-size components, rotating, locking, the properties panel and undo.
The editor canvas is a to-scale world where one unit is one millimetre. Drag empty space to pan; use the mouse wheel to zoom towards the cursor (from 2% up to 800%). The toolbar has zoom buttons and a Reset view, a scale bar sits bottom-right, and a status bar along the bottom shows the system roll-up and lets you set the system voltage.
Boards
Boards are the mounting surfaces you lay components out on. Click Board in the toolbar to open the add-board wizard: pick square, rectangle, triangle or regular polygon, enter real dimensions in millimetres, optionally name it, and choose an edge style (straight, rounded or smooth).
To reshape a board, select it and drag its corner dots; double-click an edge to add a vertex, and Alt-click a vertex to remove it (a board always keeps at least three). Drag the board body to move the whole board. In the properties panel you can also rename it, resize it numerically, set fill and stroke colours, opacity, edge curve, an optional clearance height, and a per-board grid.
Placing components
Click Add (or press Ctrl/Cmd+K) to open the component palette — the parts catalogue grouped by system: batteries, solar, DC loads, AC, inverters, busbars & protection, terminals & lugs, and other. Search filters by name, model or group. Click an entry to place it near the centre of your view, then drag it into position. Thumbnails are to scale, and every footprint is a real manufacturer dimension.
Hovering a placed component shows its spec card; selecting it shows live width/height call-outs in millimetres.
The properties panel
Select anything and the inspector on the right shows its editable properties. For a component: name, model, X/Y position in millimetres, rotation in degrees (15° steps on the stepper), optional depth, and a Locked toggle. Parts with internal fuse slots get an "Internal fuses" section where you pick the fitted rating per slot from that fuse family's standard values. A read-only terminals list shows each terminal's type and connection method.
The panel header has a delete button; Delete or Backspace on the keyboard does the same (with a confirmation you can turn off in settings). Deleting a component also removes its attached wires.
Undo, snap and locking
Undo and redo live in the toolbar and on Ctrl/Cmd+Z and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z (or Ctrl/Cmd+Y), with a 50-step history — a whole drag counts as one step. The Snap toggle snaps movement to a grid whose size you set in millimetres.
Locking a component or board (in its properties) blocks moving and reshaping while still allowing selection, wiring and property edits — useful once a section of the layout is final.
The settings gear lets you choose whether the component palette and the calculations panel dock as side panels or open as popups, switch theme, and toggle delete confirmation. Your draft autosaves to this browser continuously; see "Saving & paying" for how it becomes a permanent installation.
